Katherine Losse, a former Facebook employee, was part of the Facebook team since its beginning days. She had begun her career with the company back in 2005 and had recently written a book about her time there. In her memoir, she wrote of a time where women were talked to in ways that would be considered sexual harassment.
Many of Losse’s coworkers at that time were young college men. They would proceed to say things to the women in the office that weren’t appreciated by any of them. Losse had taken the issue to Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg listened yet didn’t act on the matter. He just let it go.
Although Zuckerberg is more mature in his business practices these days and would probably not tolerate any form of sexual harassment in his presence, if he were to have been hit with a lawsuit back in the beginning days of Facebook, it could have really hindered the future of the company.
Sexual harassment in the workplace may be common, but that doesn’t make it tolerable or legal. If you ever feel offended by the words of someone else, call a New York sexual harassment attorney to help you take control of the matter and get it to end.
